Analysis: Neither fighter landed much in the first round. By the middle of the second, Cushing had landed 16 strikes to Correa's five. Cushing took over the fight in the second and third rounds, but it's an eight round fight. Correa has swelling above his left eye after incidental contact with Cushing. The referee had to stop the fight before the end of the third round to remind the fighters to stay professional.
Correa threw his highest volume of punches in the fourth round, but Cushing ended the round in dominant fashion. Cushing should be well ahead on the judges' scorecards.
Cushing dominated the fifth round while Correa showboated in the corner, trying to draw Cushing into a battle.
Cushing is controlling the fight and will only need to stay on his feet to win while Correa is coming forward with power in the late rounds. Correa celebrated in the corner after the fight, but everything including the punch stats points to Cushing winning. Correa didn't land a single body punch in the fight.
Welterweight: Alan Sanchez vs. Luis Lopez
Winner: Lopez defeats Sanches via unanimous decision (77-75, 77-75, 77-75)
Analysis: Lopez and Sanchez were both far more conservative in the first round than Dunn or Costa was in the last fight. Neither landed anything huge, but a few strong body shots were felt on both sides.
By the fifth round, both fighters looked gassed. Lopez's hands were moving more quickly, but Sanchez was knockout hunting and successfully landed two scathing jabs to the face and a nasty right hook to Lopez's ribs.
The two traded hits for the fight's final three rounds, but neither could land a knockout blow.
Heavyweight: Steven Dunn vs. Gabriel Aguilar Costa
Winner: Costa defeats Dunn via second-round KO
Analysis: The fighters traded wild haymakers before the first 30 seconds of the fight had elapsed. The rest of the first rounded retained that frenetic pace, and at the end of it both fighters looked tired but not that hurt.
Toward the end of the second round, both fighters looked exhausted but Dunn more so. Acosta teed off on him for about 30 seconds against the ring before Dunn finally went down, staying on the ground until the official finished counting and called the fight.
